4.5.2 Material and Component Inspection. Sample in accordance with para
4.5.1. Requirements of Table II shall be met and stitches shall be examined
during manufacture, as specified below:

4.5.3 Embrittlement Relief Testing. The hooks and apex fitting drawings
which require heat treatment to tensile strengths in the range of 170,000 -
190,000 psi also require cadmium plating per QQ-P-416. In accordance with
paragraphs 3.2.8, 4.4.3.4, 4.4.4.3, and 4.5.4 of QQ-P-416, embrittlement
testing shall be performed on four test samples or test specimens prepared per
paragraph 4.494.3 and representative of each cadmium plating lot. The load
specified shall be applied for 200 hours and lots accepted if there is no
evidence of cracks or fracture at the conclusion.. If actual hooks and apex
fittings are used in this tests such hooks and apex fittings shall not be
counted in the deliverable quantity. These test samples or specimens to-
gether with the certified reports shall be available for review by the Govern-
ment inspector.
4.6 Tests. The nets shall be capable of reaching proof and ultimate loads
without repairs being made during the test. Tests shall be as follows:
4.6.2 Proof load. Proof loads requirement are given in Table I, Section 3.
No failures are permitted.
4.6.1.1 Metalware. The apex fitting and hook shall be loaded to proof
loads and held for 30 seconds minimum. Load application shall be per Drawings
6019 and 6020. The same parts may be used in the Net Assy proof load test
specified in the following paragraph.
