3.5 Dust. The sling rope assembly shall be capable of meeting the dust
requirements as specified in 4.5.4.
3.6 Solar radiation. The sling rope assembly shall be capable of
meeting the solar radiation requirements as specified in 4.5.5.
3.7 Weight. The weight of a complete sling shallnot exceed 25
kilograms (55 pounds) for the 5,000 kilogram capacity sling and 53
kilograms (117 pounds) for the 15,000 kilogram capacity sling.
3.8 Marking. The sling and major components shall be marked for
identification and maximum working load as shown on applicable drawings.
3.9 Assembly. Each sling shall be assembled so that the maximum
variation in length among the four nylon rope assemblies of each sling
shall not exceed 8 centimeters (3.0 inch).
3.10 Workmanship. The slings shall conform to the quality established
by this specification and documents referenced. All metal components
shall be free from burrs and sharp edges and by visual inspection shall
not contain foreign matter on the material surfaces.
