The end item specification for the specific parachute assembly or component will identify materials to be tested.
5.2 Government verification sample selection requirements. The contractor will notify the Government Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) each time a shipment or lot of components is received so that the Government QAR may draw verification or standby samples prior to the use of these components in production. Verification testing for materials shall be performed by the facility designated by the procuring activity. Two copies of the contractor's/vendor's test reports covering test samples will, for comparative analysis, be furnished to the facility designated by the procuring activity to accomplish verification testing and provide a copy for QAR files. The Government reserves the right to select (or have the contractor select), use, and retain samples without cost to the Government for the purpose of conducting an inspection to verify the results of the contractor's examination or testing. Samples for tests required by the material specification shall be taken at random from each finisher's lot within a shipper's lot received by the contractor on which a test report was furnished to the contractor or to the Government. Each unit of product shall be tagged with the number or code of the finisher's roll of which it is a part. The lot number of the samples submitted for verification testing shall be the same as the finisher's lot number on the vendor's report. Each verification test sample shall consist of the following:
a. Five (5) yards of each type, color, and/or class of cloth.
b. Forty (40) yards of each type, color, and/or class of tape, webbing, ribbon and braid.

5.3 Government verification testing. Verification testing shall be required on each finisher's lot regardless of size. One sampling from a finisher's lot of material which is to be used to fabricate parachutes on more than one contract is authorized provided the samples are so identified.
